Vale: Wesley Stacey 1941 – 2023

The Australian photographer Wes Stacey died last week aged 82. Apart from his many, various photographic endeavours he with fellow photographer David Moore set up the Australian Centre for Photography in Sydney in 1973.

For the past 50 years he lived Yuin Country, south of Bermagui. A detailed account of his life and work can be see here.

His photographs can be seen in the National Gallery of Victoria, National Portrait Gallery, National Library of Australia and Monash Gallery of Art.

    Thanks for all these links. I must explore Wesley Stacey’s extensive body of work in that thesis. I don’t really know it. It looks to be quite substantial and very diverse. I simply did not know his latter landscapes. Nor the latter books he produced in the 1980s. I will have to try and find them.

    The landscapes at the Monash Gallery of Art made with the Art Panorama are very impressive. It is a pity they are not titled re location and are only thumbnails. I am guessing that they made with the 6x17cm format model .
