Exhibition: Solvent/Insolvent: A Study of Coastal Interactions via Photography by Charles Millen

A study of coastal elemental interaction on the north coast of Tasmania through traditional black & white photography. The images are captured on a large format 4×5 field camera and then displayed as a selection of wide-format archival prints, printed and framed by the artist.

The interface between the sea and the shore is ever changing, yet unchanging to the human eye. Geological time erodes, reshapes and recreates; human time is but a glancing moment. We pass through these coastal interactions largely unaware of the profundity of what is before us and what will continue long after us.
