Bianca Conwell is a photographic artist based in Melbourne. Bianca is interested in the marriage of science and art in hand crafted photography, enjoying the difference between the images she makes and the modern world surrounding us. She uses hand made emulsions and film in both large format studio and pinhole cameras, combined with alternative and historic printing methods.
Personal nostalgia is central to her work, in particular childhood memories of the landscapes and places she grew up in.
Bianca is continually inspired by nature and capturing the passing of time.
More of Bianca’s photographs can be seen on her website.
Bianca Conwell describes the making of her image ‘Old Man Banksia‘ in The Photograph Considered article that can be seen here.
What an impressive way to kick off the Folio series. This body of work shows the power of alternative photographic processes, their contemporary relevance, and the strength of the poetics of photography.
