Since the very beginnings of photography, artists have used watercolours, paints, dyes, pastels and pencils to hand colour their images. Simultaneously true to life and evocative, hand coloured photographs interweave reality and the imaginary.

Georgie Mattingley is a photographic artist based in Melbourne. She completed her studies at the Victorian College of the Arts in 2014, and has gone on to exhibit her work both nationally and internationally, winning numerous awards. Her work revolves around art as a social language, and focuses on spaces and realities that are often concealed or overlooked.
