Exhibition: Essays In Light – Fine Monochrome Print Group

An exhibition of fine art photographic prints by the Fine Monochrome Print Group, Photographic Society of Queensland.

The Essays in Light exhibition showcases the artistry of ten photographers from the Fine Monochrome Print Group, each presenting a thematic series of fine art prints that dive into subjects as varied as architecture, landscapes, figure studies, flora, portraits, and still life.  Each portfolio reveals a distinct creative perspective, capturing the depth and beauty of photography.

The exhibition explores photography as fine art, emphasizing both the allure of traditional methods and the dynamic possibilities of digital techniques. Photographic approaches range from handcrafted Platinum/Palladium and silver gelatin prints to contemporary digital work, highlighting how these techniques complement and enrich each other.

Our hope is to inspire a deeper appreciation for the versatility of fine art photography and to show how these evolving techniques continue to shape and redefine the art form’s future.

About the Fine Monochrome Print Group

The Fine Monochrome Print Group was formed by Fred Hunt in 2003 under the auspices of the Photographic Society of Queensland (PSQ).

The Group is committed to the production and appreciation of finely crafted monochrome photographic prints, (and where appropriate, subdued colour prints as this exhibition shows).

The group welcomes new members who are seeking to expand their practice of making fine art prints.  For further information please contact Mick Lord at fmpg.qld@gmail.com
